6th Form Admissions Procedure

Admissions Procedure for Sixth Form

All students should apply using the on line CAP system. Deadline for applications is Dec 31st 2009. Students applying after this deadline must be aware that their applications may not be accepted.

Entry to AS/A2 is considered with a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, though some courses have specific requirements - see details for each course.  Levcl 2 and level one courses have lower entry requirements. For level 2 you will need 20 GCSE points and 2 Ds. Entry to level one courses will be through guidance and discussion.

We will provide students with appropriate information to choose the right courses to meet their needs and aspirations.  We hold an Open Evening which this year is on Nov 11th from 6.00pm until 7.30 pm and provide initial guidance interviews.

We welcome students who have already been studying with us in lower school and every year we are delighted to welcome others who have come to us just for their sixth form studies.

There couldn't be a better time for joining the Allerton Grange Sixth Form - in September 2009 we moved into a brand new building with state-of-the-art facilities, and we'd love you to join us there. We are a large, progressive Sixth Form, which means that we can offer you an extremely wide range of courses to choose from, and our inclusive policy of entry means that all our students have equal status, whichever course they are taking.

To be among the first intakes of a new school is an attractive thought, but of course the main reason for choosing a Sixth Form is to gain high academic grades and achieve the very best you can - and we're confident we can help you do it, just as we did for Roger Willis, who freely admits that his GCSE results weren't exactly spectacular, but who recently left us to study History at Cambridge. Allerton Grange Sixth Form is justifiably proud of its performance and continuing high value-added rating; our success is due to the talented and specialist teachers in the school and the hard work of our students.

While you are in the Sixth Form, you will be treated as a young adult and given the rights and responsibilities associated with your status. You will be valued as a person, with your own individual needs being taken into account.

You will be encouraged to make careful decisions about your own development and future, and also to contribute to the life of the Sixth Form and the wider community. We will expect you to behave in a mature way and we continually stress the responsibility that Sixth Form students have as role models for the younger students within the school.

You will have a form tutor who will stay with you throughout your time in the Sixth Form. Your tutor will be available to help you with any academic or personal problems and to refer you to any other help if you need it. You will also have regular meetings with your form tutor to review your performance and to discuss ways in which you can improve, to give yourself the very best chance of success.

This is a very supportive Sixth Form and we will do everything we can to ensure that you are successful.  Your studies will be matched to your ability as far as possible; we are able to do this because the curriculum and courses we offer are quite flexible.

If you do decide to study at Allerton Grange School, you'll have made a wise choice. Contribute to life in the sixth form and enjoy it to the maximum.  These are the best years of your school life!
