Work Experience
The school is committed to providing you with a period of valuable work experience. This aims to provide some real-life experience of work: a valuable resource, a ‘taste' of a potential career area enabling you to make a more informed decision on your future and to enhance your curriculum.
One Year Courses
Throughout the course you will attend a one-day-per-week work placement in your chosen vocational area. In the spring term you will also complete a one week block placement. This scheme enables you to obtain a wide experience in two different types of workplace.
Advanced Students
You will complete a one-week block placement towards the end of the summer term in year 12. In the past, students have taken part in placements which have related to their possible future careers, e.g. in hospitals, with lawyers, in laboratories, with designers, shadowing MPs/MEPs, and with a variety of media organisations. This work experience is arranged by you with support from school.
The timing of work placement is designed to provide you with relevant experience immediately prior to the term in which you will be making important decisions about your future career and the direction you may wish to take in higher education
