MESSAGE FROM RICK WHITTAKER :-
ALL THROUGH EDUCATION
Update: 10th May 2011
I have been informed that the report on the Allerton Grange School 4-18 proposal will recommend that further work needs to be done by officers before bringing forward a recommendation to proceed. It is, therefore, most unlikely that this proposal will go ahead in September 2012.
I understand that the initial findings of the traffic impact assessment raised a number of issues which would add to the expense of the scheme and further analysis of the report and its impact is required before a recommendation to proceed can be made.
As always, I will keep you informed of any developments.
Regards
Rick Whittaker

Dear Parent
You may be aware that there is a severe shortage of primary school places in Leeds, particularly in the North East. In September, we were asked by Education Leeds if we would consider being part of the solution to this problem.
Following a number of meetings with myself and John McCall (Deputy Headteacher), officers from Education Leeds presented to governors at an extraordinary meeting on 1 November 2010. At that meeting governors agreed unanimously to engage with a consultation process on the age range of Allerton Grange changing to 4-18. On 15 December 2010, the Council’s Executive Board agreed to conduct a formal consultation to change the age range of Allerton Grange to 4-18 and to establish primary provision on the land to the west of the school previously included in the old school site. This would be effective from September 2012 with a reception limit of 60.
There will be a public meeting on 25 January 2011 at 6.30 pm in the main school hall where you can find out more about the proposals and make your views known.
We live in interesting times – the recent White Paper, the national financial context, the forthcoming discontinuation of the Council’s contract with Education Leeds and now the possibility of us becoming an All Through School. Shift happens and is inevitable. It is for us to shape what sort of school we want to become.

Happy New Year!
Best wishes
