Easter saw the latest AGSki trip set off to Claviere in Italy for a week’s fast and furious skiing!

The usual 24 hour coach journey passed slowly but peacefully – once the comedy airhorns had been found and removed with menaces!   

The ‘Gentlemens Advanced’ superb skiers (led by Rachel May!) promptly disappeared off with their instructor, since they’re too good for any of us except Mr Edwards to keep up with, and the rest of us headed into the hills with the other groups and their instructors.  The ‘Babies’ endured a day on the boring nursery slope – a LOT of wailing and gnashing of teeth went on, but mostly at having to walk back UP the slope! 

They were keen to get up the mountain and on day 2 they got their wish.  After some spectacular teacher wipeouts getting off the lift (thanks, George!)

they took to it like ducks to very slippery water and by the afternoon had completed their first Blue Run.  Proper skiers after a day.  Now to work on the fine details of technique!

Meanwhile the rest of the groups were haring around the place, practising jumps, between-the-trees and the all-important ‘how to collect the scattered skis and poles from much higher up the hill’ technique that always goes with pushing yourself!

As the week went on, everyone astounded us with their progress, their ability to have fun and their sheer guts. 

By the end of the week we’d endured, sorry enjoyed a karaoke evening and a moonlight skidoo trip up the mountain for hot chocolate and crepes (many a poor joke made!).  Miss Walsh would like to apologise here for commandeering the best, back seat on the skidoo on BOTH legs of the journey.  And she’d do it again in a heartbeat!  There was also the traditional AGSki Talent Show but no photos of this – what goes on tour, stays on tour!!

Next years trip is currently in the planning stage – details and deposits hopefully before the summer.  Listen in assembly and watch this space!
