- Why Choose Art?
GCSE
In the first six months, students complete a mini foundation course. Where
they learn techniques, skills and media. Projects are initially led by
the teacher and eventually students develop their work in a more
individual self directed way.
Throughout
the course pupils build on their knowledge and understanding of Art
History. Students study contemporary and historical artists and
movements this helps to develop and inspire their work. Students in
year11 are guided to build on existing projects and expand their skills
and knowledge in a more personal way.
BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Art and Design
BTEC
is a more vocational route where students wanting to follow a more
creative route can take this option. The course is led by scenarios and
briefs which the pupils use to make their piece of work.
Students
will have 6 lessons of art per week. They will start by working towards
the BTEC certificate which is worth 2 GCSE's and depending on progress
they may go onto complete the BTEC diploma giving the equivalent of 4
GCSE's overall.
