MFL Events

• The Experience

A half-day visit to the City Learning Centre (CLC) where Year 9 students studying French, German or Spanish work in small groups with a native speaker.  They visit a simulated market place where they buy items, listen to announcements and read signs.  They then produce a comic-style account of their visit using the CLC IT facilities.

• The Hotel Experience

A half-day visit to a local hotel where students studying French or Spanish have the opportunity to practise their language in a work-related environment, booking rooms, ordering food in the restaurant and even making complaints.

• The Business Experience

A half-day visit to the CLC where students studying French, German or Spanish work in small groups with a Foreign native speaker.  They create a business presentation and an advert showcasing a product that they wish to sell in Germany, France or Spain.

• Big Brother

A half-day visit to the CLC where students studying French, German and Spanish participate in quizzes an interviews in the Big Brother style, complete with diary room.

• Languages at Work Conference

A half-day visit to Leeds University where Year 9 students studying French, German and Spanish have the opportunity to learn about the role languages play in the real word of work and how just having a language can really be a benefit.  They also participate in a taster session in a different language such as Thai, Chinese or Polish.

• Routes into Languages

A full day visit to Leeds University where Y10 students studying French, German and Spanish have the opportunity to practise their language skills in various exciting language activities including making their own podcast.
