Department Information

The Mathematics department is a high performing and much improving department within the school. We have 9 specialist full time 2 part-time members of staff and a maths-specialist HLTA

Mathematics is taught in its "pod" with 8 rooms, all which are equipped with Smart Boards. We have two sets of laptops and an interactive voting pod system to motivate and engage students.

The Mathematics department is very much moving forward at the moment with GCSE (A*-C) results up 13% form last year, and AS level results up 6% on the previous year.

Equipment

In addition to the normal equipment required for lessons, students are expected to have a Maths set (including protractor, pair of compasses) and a scientific calculator: both of which can be purchased from the department.

Enrichment

Each year students take part in the Maths Challenge Competition at junior, intermediate and senior levels.

 

Homework

In order for parents to support their son/daughter with their homework we feel it is important for them to know what sort of topics within Maths to expect homework on. Below is a list of topics and an idea of when they are covered in Maths.
