Extra Curricular

Complementing a broad range of activities within the core curriculum, the department also offers a comprehensive selection of extra-curricular activities, which aim to encourage pupils to improve their competency levels, as well as represent the school in a myriad of leagues, competitions and tournaments at local and National level. We are very proud of our achievements in extra curricular sport and enjoy our reputation of being one of the strongest and most successful schools for extra-curricular sport in the area. We also run a Talented Athlete programme based on the Youth Sports Trust's Junior Athlete Education Programme, which provides advice and support through workshops and consultation for our elite performers (County, Regional, National and International performance) and their parents, in an attempt to gain a healthy balance between the pursuit of excellence in their chosen sport and the realisation of their academic potential.

As pupils progress to Key Stage 4, students have one lesson a week. They have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised awards as part of their chosen PE programme, including First Aid, Level 1 in Dance and/or Sports Leadership. An element of flexibility is also provided where possible so that pupils can access all of these over the two year period if they so wish.
