FCSE/ Asset Languages
We are currently considering to affiliate with either AQA or OCR. FCSE stands for Foundation Certificate in Secondary Education. It is currently available in French, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and German. However, FCSE Panjabi is still in the planning stage and we do not know a definite time frame for this. Therefore, it is most likely that we will affiliate with OCR in the near future. These two courses are designed to recognise the achievement of those students, who do not sit for GCSE Panjabi and leave language at KS4.
GCSE
The subject follows GCSE AQA specification. The candidates are tested in four skills:
Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. There is no coursework component for Panjabi.
Assessment
There are two tiers of assessment: Foundation (G-C) and Higher (D-A*). The candidates may be entered for either Foundation or Higher tier.
GCE
AQA has introduced new course specification for Panjabi for AS and A Level. This new specification is designed to:
- take into account the likely linguistic knowledge of students who have only recently completed a GCSE in the target language
- stimulate students' interest, engage and motivate them
- test the student's grammatical knowledge and form a useful tool for further study
- provide the opportunity for students to study two topics of their choice from a range of literary and non-literary topics
Assessment
The Assessment objectives are common to AS and A Level.
AO1 - understand and respond in writing to written language
AO2 - Show knowledge of and apply accurately the grammar and syntax prescribed in the specification
