Science
Science is an interesting and stimulating subject that opens up a whole world of possibilities and unusual ideas. It is made up of 3 main aspects Biology (all living things), Chemistry (materials and their properties) and Physics (physical processes). To be a scientist you need to be imaginative and creative. Luckily you don’t need to look like Albert Einstein
The Science department is composed of 15 members of staff, listed below
Curriculum leader: Miss A Young youngam02@leedslearning.net
Member of staff in charge of GCSE Sciences Ms D Cruickshanks cruickd01@leedslearning.net
Member of staff in charge of BTEC Science Mr P Routledge routlep01@leedslearning.net

Information for parents :
KS3 Data:
For the first year 7 assessment science teachers have used end of topic test data to give your child their current grade. The first topic test we have done is “Cells” and at this time we would expect all students to be at least working at their target grades, if not above. As we progress through Year 7 your child will complete further tests on a range of topics which will give us a better overview of their science level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics, as well as the skills.
Year 7 target grades are based on KS2 science assessments. Students in KS3 are expected to make 2 levels progress. This breaks down to 2 sub-levels per year. For example a student who comes in as a 4a should achieve a 6a at the end of year 9 (they will be a 5b at the end of year 7). We will review all target grades as we progress through the year.
If you require any further information please contact your child's science teacher.
