ALLERTON GRANGE STUDENTS SUPPORT FAIR TRADE…
Year 7 students at Allerton Grange held their annual Fair Trade Fair this week and raised a whopping £329.68 to support Fair Trade work overseas. The student’s made all the goods themselves and prepared the food at home. There was a huge choice of edible items for sale on the day such as gingerbread men, shortbread, buns, samosa’s, cake and cookies with a selection of fluids such as Caribbean fruit juice and milk shakes to order. For the chocoholics on the day a chocolate fountain provided fruit or marshmallows dripping in milk chocolate. Goods available to buy on the day ranged from hand -made pencil cases, potato heads, and book marks to items of jewelry, 3D glasses and personalized badges.
The whole event, which ran over 2 days was again a resounding success. Mrs Dodsworth, head of the Learning 2 Learn curriculum at the school said “I am astonished with the amount of effort that the year 7 students have put into producing all the items for the fair and I amastounded by their generosity and enthusiasm. I was especially delighted to see the preparation they put into the event by doing their own promotions and working out their costings and profit & loss accounts.
